As of January 1st, horses will be subject to Sanitary and Phytosanitary checks (SPS). Therefore, all freight customers shipping horses will be required to make an appointment with the Border Control Post (BCP) 72 hours prior to shipment when shipping from Dover-France using the following link:
https://www.pas-de-calais.gouv.fr/booking/create/51518#
If the appointment has not been undertaken, the horses will not be permitted to enter EU territory and will be diverted back to the UK. Therefore, we have updated our Animal Shipment Policy to ensure that the shipment of animals are pre-advised 72 hours prior to shipment, in line with the new requirements. Please find attached the updated Animal Shipment Request form for your reference.
For your information, the Border Control Post (BCP) will initially be open from 08.30 to 18:00, which limits the checks to 25 trucks per day for all operators.
In addition to this process, horses are no longer permitted to ship between Dover<>Dunkerque, Only between Dover<>Calais.
We anticipate this process will also be applied to all livestock and therefore we advise you to follow this process when shipping livestock of any kind.
